Dear Valued Customer,

You will agree with me that Year 2020 has been a very eventful and challenging year worldwide. From the Covid-19 pandemic to #endsars within our country and even internationally, the African-American George Floyd’s incident in the U.S.

The pandemic has really been a time for sober reflection for every individual and every country.

It has been a time for every country to lie on its own bed and take in its own smoke.

Through it all, we saw an African continent that is naked and empty. Not naked because it has no clothes but naked because it refused to wear its clothes, and empty because it refused to explore its well-endowed resources, both human and natural.

The Covid-19 pandemic in particular has exposed our over-dependence on everything foreign. If not for God, what would have been our story as a continent?

Thanks and praise for God’s mercies over Africa.

The greatest lesson in all of this is for us to look inward as a matter of urgency in all aspects of human endeavour: medical, agriculture and all areas of the economy.

Africa, and Nigeria in particular, needs to be more self-reliant in all these fields of endeavour.

When everything fails like this, we believe every responsible person is collectively accountable, not just the government. We believe we all have our different roles to play in our different fields because all hands must be on deck to achieve this.

No matter how long it may take, the journey of a thousand years begins with one step.

It is for this reason that we at The Wardrobe, as players with over 30 years of experience in the fashion industry, with both home and international experience, cannot afford not to play our part in the global fashion industry business. We have decided to look inward in our fashion business industry and develop an African fashion brand that speaks to our fashion taste and fits our African shape, both home and abroad. A fashion brand that suits our values as a people. No more dependence on foreign fashion brands. We need our self-identity and we need to push ourselves out there. China, Japan, Malaysia and many other Asian countries did it. YAMAHA, SAMSUNG, HUAWEI, SUZUKI etc are all their native names and brands, so that their native identity is not lost. Why not Africa?

To this end, The Wardrobe is launching an African fashion brand, Ade that speaks our true identity.

We will keep you updated on the formal launching of the Ade brand. Meanwhile, our store on 37, Allen Avenue, Ikeja is already open for business.

As we work hard to take up this responsibility for nation building, it will surely be a daunting task no doubt. However, we all have our roles to play for it to succeed.

As part of our commitment to doing our part and ensuring the safety of our customers during the pandemic, free quality facemasks will be provided at our store for everyone that buys from us till the end of December, 2021.

As Africans, we believe we should all begin to look inward for our consumption and reduce our foreign dependence on foreign brands.

We ask for your support and encouragement by your patronage, constructive feedback and prayers.

We believe this will not only encourage us but it will also help in our nation building.
